  1. There are two set of resource files here.  One is based on
  2. the colors I have been working with for a while (the .tan
  3. collection), and the other to fit in with a Motif or a
  4. NEXTSTEP environment (the .gray collection).  The latter
  5. collection was based on colors shipped with NCSA's Motif
  6. client.
  7.  
  8. Both sets move much of the color into the .Xdefaults file,
  9. which I link to .Xresources, and hence pass through xrdb,
  10. which uses cpp on them.

  12. I preload a few client-specific resources as well, such as
  13. xterm, because I want to make sure that these get loaded
  14. no m aterre what environment I am in.

  16. I have not attempted to recolor all clients.  Some of them,
  17. such as xgopher, xarchie, and llnlxftp, have fairly
  18. elaborate color schemes, and work well in most environments
  19. as-are.

  21. Simply copy the .Xdefaults file of your choice into your
  22. home directory and link it with .Xresources .  Then copy
  23. the resource files from the preferred color collection
  24. into your system or user resource directory (see appropriate
  25. section in the book) such as $HOME/app-defaults.

  27. Finally, there is also a .twmrc file in each directory as well,
  28. with calm grays in the .gray collection, and heavily color-
  29. coded, get your attention colors in the .tan collection.
